To The Blue Ribbon Association of Osaka:
It gives me great pleasure and honor to send my warm greetings and
congratulations for the December 1st meeting of the Blue Ribbon Association
of Osaka.? Recently, I traveled to Korea to accept the 2008 Seoul Peace
Prize and each day I wore by own blue ribbon to show my solidarity with the
Japanese rescue movement which has worked tirelessly to bring home their
loved ones from North Korea.
The Blue Ribbon Association of Osaka continues to seek an accounting for the
loved ones who were cruelly taken against their will by one of the most evil
regimes on this Earth.? Your fight is noble and vital but I know that it has
been a very painful and difficult struggle.
It is easy to think we should give up and forget, but we must never give up,
and we must never forget.? We need to remember that you are motivated by
love, a love to see those family members returned to their loved ones and
their homeland, and you are motivated by a love of justice and humanity.
You also need to remember that you are fighting a regime that is motivated
by the opposite emotions: hate and a complete indifference to humanity and a
contempt for justice.
Just as this regime has brought about lifelong misery and suffering to
people in Japan, South Korea, and other countries for its abduction of their
citizens, it has also brought about lifelong misery and suffering for its
own people.
We must continue this fight for the return of every single person who was
abducted by North Korea, and we must continue with hope that they may be
reunited with their loving families.? We must not let evil triumph.? So,
please know that I am proud to congratulate you on your noble efforts and
will continue to work with you until the day that the captives of North
Korea are set free.
Warm regards and blessings to you,
